From first enquiry through to agreement — here's the path most matters follow.
01
Initial Enquiry
You reach out online or by phone and share the basics of your situation.
More detail
Getting in touch is the first step, and we've tried to make it as easy as possible. You can reach us through the enquiry button on this site or simply call us. At this point, all we need is a brief sense of what's going on — there's no commitment, no paperwork, and no pressure. We'll let you know how we can help and what a next step might look like for your situation.
02
Intake Session(s)
A guided conversation gathers background, the other party's details, and the nature of the matter.
More detail
This is your chance to tell your story — in your own words, at your own pace. Whether you complete our guided online intake or speak directly with a practitioner, this conversation helps us understand what's actually going on for you, who else is involved, and what you're hoping to resolve. There's no rush, and nothing you share is passed to the other party without your agreement.
03
Screening
A confidential safety and suitability check, completed before anything else is arranged.
More detail
Your safety matters more than moving quickly. Before anything is arranged, we have a private conversation with you about how you're feeling about the process — including whether there's anything in the history between you and the other party that we need to understand first. If anything comes up, we work out the right approach with you privately, before any joint session is considered. You're never put in a room with the other person before that check has happened.
04
Pre-Mediation Session(s)
Individual meetings with each party to prepare, set expectations, and agree the process.
More detail
Before you meet with the other party, you'll have time alone with your mediator. This is a space to ask every question you have, understand exactly what to expect on the day, and make sure the process feels right for you — including whether you'd prefer to be in the same room or in separate spaces. Walking in prepared makes a real difference, and that's what this time is for.
05
Mediation
The joint (or shuttle) session itself, facilitated by an independent practitioner.
More detail
This is where the real work happens — and it often goes better than people expect. You and the other party will have the chance to speak, be heard, and work through the issues that matter most. Your mediator keeps things structured and respectful, but the decisions stay with you. The goal is an outcome that actually works for your life, not one handed down by a judge who doesn't know your circumstances.
06
Further Mediation Session(s)
Additional sessions, where needed, to keep working toward agreement.
More detail
Some things take more than one conversation to resolve, and that's completely normal. If you need more time — to think something over, gather information, or work through issues that came up in the first session — further sessions can be arranged. You'll have the same mediator throughout, so you're never starting from zero, and the pace is shaped around what you need.
Some matters move straight through; others need more than one session at any stage — the path adjusts to what each situation needs.
